KIWIS TO VISIT CHRISTCHURCH NEXT WEEK
A number of Kiwi league players will be in Christchurch next
Wednesday May 4, 2011 to visit a hospital, schools and attend an
NZRL Community Carnival.
Glen Turner (Raiders), a local junior, will be joined by Nathan
Cayless (Eels), Chase Stanley (Storm), Sam Perrett and Anthony
Cherrington (Roosters).
They will start the day with a visit to the children's ward at
Christchurch Hospital, before meeting with the Mayor at the Arts
Centre. They will be taken to see some of the damage in the city,
before visiting two local schools, Wainoni Park and Hornby
High.
Later in the afternoon they will attend a Community Carnival, to
be held at Cuthbert's Green from 4 - 5pm, where locals will be able
to mix with the players, see the Rugby League World Cup and Four
Nations trophy, have photos and get autographs.
The players will finish their day by spending time with
Canterbury Rugby League staff and their guests.
Early on Thursday morning, players will join a group of
Christchurch fans and emergency workers who are travelling to the
Gold Coast for the VB Test as guests of the NZRL, Jetstar, Gold
Coast Tourism and ATHOC.
All Christchurch league fans are welcome to come along to the
Community Carnival at Cuthbert's Green to meet the players and see
the silverware.
