NZRL Staff Member Debuts for White Ferns

Friday, 20 January 2012

Katie Perkins, the NZRL's hard working administrative assistant, seen here with the RLWC, has made her debut for the NZ Womens Cricket team, the White Ferns. Playing in her first game of the series in Australia, Katie made a very respectable 31 runs and ran out two of the Australians. While the Australians eventually won the match Katie says it was a great experience and the team can only benefit for this first up match. For more details see the match report here.

Prior to her trip National Selector Manager Kim Littlejohn said: "The squad has been picked on the back of a hard fought domestic competition.  Katie Perkins demanded a spot in the squad with strong performances in the domestic competition.  In seven Twenty20 innings Perkins has hit 126 runs and only been dismissed once.  Her batting along with her world-class fielding has played a major part in the success of the Hearts this season."
